About Me

Hello and welcome to my photography journey.

For many years I have taken photos on my phone or a small camera just as a 'capture the moment' of my family and things, it was the case of point the camera and click, then my wife got a Fujifilm camera and if we went out I started using that and started to get into photography a little bit.

After a while I started taking the camera out more to things like our local Navy Air day show and it got to the point where I used it more than my wife did and thought I should get my own camera.

In January 2017 I got my own Nikon D5300 with a standard 18- 55mm lens and got a Sigma 70-300mm macro telephoto zoom lens.

A friend that has been playing around with his camera for years gave me some tips and guidance which was a great help, then one night I was going through YouTube and Facebook and found a group for beginners, the lady that runs the group, Rosie Parsons, is a photographer and wanted to help others, so she started a 4 week beginners course for people to join and learn the basic guidance to get you started.

This was a great help to get me started off in the right direction with the great tips that I got from the course.

Since then I have joined a few Facebook groups and there is so many people in the groups that gave me more help and support on my learning journey.

Most of my photos I have taken so far is of wildlife and scenery when I go out early in the morning before I go to work.

I have taken some photos for a local charity event Retro car show. I had taken some photos of some owls, which the lady liked and used them for their Facebook page, I also went to a local pet shop Little wings and Sudwoofers, ran by a few people that I had met, and took some photos inside the bird cages which was a great opportunity and I felt really welcome to be there. I had a good response from them when I sent them the photos.

I made up some calendars of a few subjects and also had requests for calendars with peoples chosen photos and sent them off to them and had some great feedback.

I had a lady message me one day asking if there was a donation I could give to help them out with their charity event, so what I did was brought a slate with a photo printed on, that they had chosen from my collection, from a company that put photos onto slate and they auctioned it off the help raise money for the charity.

Sometimes I have my daughter come out with me with my wife's camera (I think she has lost her camera again) which is great to have some father and daughter time.

I hope you like my gallery of my photography journey and appreciate your comments and support.
